The service at St. Charles Lwanga Catholic Church, Ntinda, was conducted around scriptures Gen. 2:18–24 (…“It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”…) and Ephesians: 5:21-33 (…Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Saviour. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything….).

“Marriage is a sweet burden,” warned the preacher. “Getting into marriage is one thing; enjoying it is another.”

Pray for the couple, the preacher appealed to hundreds of participants in an 8 a.m. service. “The institution they are entering into is not human; it is divine.”

According to the preacher,” Marriage is a mix of joy and pain.”

He asked the newly-wed to “Be a source of support to each other during stormy moments or times.”

He emphasized happiness to the couple. “Protect your wife and children. Discipline your children. Let the bedroom be a place for settling issues, not before your children. Don’t bark at each other. Create peace. Don’t police. There is no marriage or family that is perfect. Appreciate what you have as a couple. There is nothing that God puts together without Grace,” said the preacher.

Above all, he concluded, “Pray. Pray. And pray. Get a moment to pray together.”

The couple later treated their guests to a lavish reception at Ruth Gardens in Kisasi.
