Celebrated goalkeeper Dennis Onyango has made a name for himself on the continent as a gifted shot-stopper that ensures his team-Mamelodi Sundowns and country Uganda don’t lose matches by expertly safe-guarding the goalposts, now and then, every time he has stood out in the middle

Through his Dennis Onyango Masinde (DOM) Foundation, the custodian is planning to travel back home to Uganda and not only celebrate the holidays with his natives in Busia District but also give back generously in a bid to “save’ their lives and help them enjoy better livelihoods.

The series of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) events that will climax with an action-packed day on December 23rd will witness a celebrity-studded side codenamed ‘Onyango’s Best XI tussle it out with a Busia Select XI side at Masafu Playground.

South Africa midfield maestro Hompho Kekana, who plays for Sundowns and is a former Masandawana captain, and Zambian custodian Kennedy Mweene are expected to fly down to Uganda and feature alongside former Uganda Cranes stars Andy Mwesigwa. Simeon Masaba. Geofrey Massa, Godrey Walusimbi (Jjaja Walu), Hassan Wasswa, Emmanuel Okwi and Dan Wagaluka in Onyango’s Best XI that will also be boosted by a special appearance from BET Award-Winning Ugandan Artiste Eddie Kenzo.

“We want to make a change,” said Onyango, who’s also been voted twice as the Best Goalkeeper in Africa and 2016 African-based African Player of the year.

“By bringing these big names to Busia, we intend to give the locals joy. Many of them in Busia support Sundowns because I play for the Brazilians’. And for them to be able to see the stars that they have only been able to see to on Dstv before will give them a priceless sense of belonging. And these guys will not just be here to play. They will also dig deep into their pockets and contribute to DOM Foundation and that will literally culminate into directly giving back to the people of the area.”

Before the match, Onyango and his guests will give out Mattresses, Blankets, Mama Kit Value Packs and also partake in the Masafu Hospital painting launch. The day will climax with several merry-making activities and a Christmas Party that will be graced by the area’s elders and authorities.

DOM Foundation is partnering Gal Sport Betting and Crown Beverages through their flagship soft drink brands of Pepsi and Nivana for this particular event that is one of many in the foundation’s pipeline going forward.
