By Davis Mugabi

Uganda Prisons has opened gates of Prisons across the country for those wishing to visit their loved ones.

This was suspended following the outbreak of Covid-19 in March 2020.

However, addressing the media on Monday, Prisons Spokesperson Frank Baine said visitation has now been resumed.

The condition for visitation is, however, that one must present proof of full Covid-19 vaccination by showing a Covid-19 vaccination card.

According to Baine, there will also be a strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in place.

“Prisons are open, don’t hesitate to come,” Baine appealed to the public, emphasizing the need for wearing of face masks for visitors.

By Monday morning, Uganda’s Covid-19 cumulative confirmed cases were 163,250 with new 34 cases across the country.
