The body of a barmaid in the Western district of Rubirizi has been retrieved, and according to Police, they are investigating a case of murder by strangulation.
The deceased has been identified as Betesi Atuhaire, a resident of Kanyantanga village, Katanda sub-county in Rubirizi District.
Facts show that Atuhaire was living with her sister, Joyce Kyogabirwe, in Kanyantanga Trading centre where they were operating a bar. But on July 20, 2022 at around 7pm, she went with one Annet Tusingwire to prepare super in the kitchen.
Reaching there, she moved outside and did not inform her colleague where she was going. She never returned.
In the morning of July 21, 2022, her body was found dead and lying half naked.
Regional Police Spokesperson Michael Tumusiime confirmed the murder.
Tumusiime said clothes belonging to the deceased were recovered and her body taken to Rugazi Health Centre for a postmortem.
“No arrest of suspect yet and inquiries are continuing,” Tumusiime said adding that “The motive of murder is not yet established.”
