By Davis Mugabi

The Minister of Trade, Francis Mwebesa has threatened to drag the government to court to have the money he has been spending from his own pocket to fuel his official vehicle reimbursed, after learning that the fuel card attached to his office was hijacked by a personal assistant at the Ministry of Trade.

Mwebesa was appearing before the Committee on Wednesday afternoon when he said that “I am almost taking the Government to court because I have been spending my own money yet I have heard that some people have been taking millions. I want to ask Government to pay me this money regardless of everything.”

Parliament’s Trade Committee was also told that Deo Byaruhanga, Principal Engineer at the Ministry of Trade spent Shs2M on fuel per trip, to transport files from Farmer’s House in Kampala to Entebbe, when the offices were being renovated.
