Video: Kagame credits Uganda in Cuba

President Paul Kagame of Rwanda has credited Uganda during his visit to Cuba.

President Kagame is attending the Group of 77 and China Summit in Havana, chaired by Cuba’s President Miguel Diaz-Canel.

The summit’s theme is “Current Development Challenges: Role of Science, Technology, and Innovation.”

“For me, coming to Havana, Cuba, is something of a great memory because I was in this country from 1986 to 1987. That was 36 years ago. I was a young officer serving in a country that had given me a home as well, which was Uganda. And I was here to do a course that was given to many Africans,” President Kagame said.

Commenting on the theme, he said that “science and technology have the power to unite us and transform our future for the better. Unfortunately, access to the latest technology is not universal. In poorer countries, this negatively affects the response to emergencies.”
