Four students of Buganda Royal Institute of Business and Technical Education in Mengo have died in a car crash.

The incident occurred at Masinde village, Katabi Town Council, in Wakiso district.

Four of them died on the spot, Traffic and Road Safety Spokesman Michael Kananura said in a statement on Saturday.

It’s reported that the deceased students were heading to Katomi Kingdom Beach for a weekend outing but unfortunately died in a car accident before reaching there.

Eyewitnesses who witnessed the accident say the deceased were overspeeding in a black car registration number UBH 582S, failed to negotiate with a sharp corner, and in the process rammed into a stationed beverage truck.

Kananura said victims were rushed to Kisubi Hospital for treatment, while bodies were taken to Mulago City Mortuary for a postmortem.

By press time, the vehicles had been towed to Kisubi police station pending inspection.
