Presidential candidate Mubarak Munyagwa has responded after his father, Hajji Bruhan Sserunga, publicly endorsed President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni during a recent NRM campaign event in Kitagwenda District.
During the gathering, Hajji Sserunga urged residents to vote overwhelmingly for President Museveni, praising him for the stability and peace ushered in since 1986. He also appealed to voters to allow the President to complete the development agenda he set decades ago—remarks that left many supporters surprised, given that his son is running for the presidency.
In a calm and conciliatory response, Munyagwa downplayed any perceived tension, saying differences in political preference are normal.

“Democracy allows different choices even within the same family. I thank my parents for nurturing presidential material that is ready to and going to serve the country,” Munyagwa said.
