Tororo Chief Magistrate, Her Worship Ajuna Doreen, has convicted a school Director to 36 months (3years) in jail for being in possession of, and sharing unauthorized examination materials, contrary to Section 25 (1) of the UNEB Act 2021.

The first accused, Ejagu Moses, a.k.a. Prof. Moses VIP, is a Director of Studies at St. Mary’s Junior School Namirembe in Kapeeka, Nakaseke District.

The accused, who pleaded guilty to the charges, was on October 8th found in possession of bag with hand written PLE questions, which he would allegedly type on to a supposed UNEB Question Paper and share with different groups.

By the time of his arrest, he had shared on 15 WhatsApp Groups where he was the administrator, and on 200 other groups which he belonged to a member.

The first accused was arrested along with Juko Denis, the second accused person, who is a Head Teacher in the same school. He was charged with being in possession of, and sharing unauthorized examination materials pertaining to the Primary Leaving Examination (PLE).

He pleaded not guilty, and was taken back to prison due to lack of sufficient sureties.

Section 25 (1) of the UNEB ACT 2021 stipulates that a person who willfully, before or during an examination, has in his or her possession, or under his or her control or attempts to gain possession of any examination paper or any part of an examination paper, examination material Or information for that examination, commits and offence and is liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding one thousand currency points or to a term of imprisonment not exceeding five years, or both.
