LAMWO: Lightning strikes Congregation, leaves 14 dead

14 people have been confirmed dead following an incident of lightning that occurred on Saturday in the northern district of Lamwo.

The deceased remain unidentified.

34 others were left injured.

Preliminary findings indicate that while at Palebek refugee settlement camp in Lamwo district, Aswa Region, a lightning strike killed 14 people and injured 34 others during a prayer service at a church in Zone 8, Block 2. The victims had gathered for prayers when the rain started around 5:00 PM, and the lightning thunder struck at 5:30 PM. 

The injured were rushed to Paluda Health Centre III for treatment.
