FiRe Awards: Exodus SACCO Keeps Tabs on Wazalendo, Named 2nd Runner Up in Cooperatives Society Category
By Executive Editor
For a long time, Police’s Exodus SACCO has been benchmarking with a fairly established SACCO, Wazalendo. By so doing, Exodus SACCO equally brought itself forward for scrutiny by the Fire Awards Committee. The FiRe Awards are an annual ceremony through which excellence in financial reporting is recognized and rewarded.
It appears that Exodus SACCO is now keeping tabs with Wazalendo.
At the 14th Fire Awards held at the Kampala Serena Hotel on Wednesday, Exodus SACCO emerged as 2nd Runner Up in the category of Cooperatives Society. Steadfin won this category, while UMEME Staff Multipurpose Cooperative managed a 1st Runner Up slot. Wazalendo managed a Certificate of Recognition. Wazalendo SACCO herein referred to as ‘WSACCO’ is a Ministry of Defence (MOD) and Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) Co-operative Society, while Exodus SACCO membership comprises Police officers, their spouses and children.
Board Treasurer, Superintendent of Police Eddy Ssekanjako, is optimistic that the Wednesday win is a step in the right direction.
SP Ssekanjako noted that Exodus SACCO is open to scrutiny as a way of accountability. He adds that the award is a vote of confidence in the SACCO leadership headed by SCP (Rtd) Wilsom Omoding.
SP Ssekanjako pledged Exodus SACCO members a good year, adding that the SACCO leadership is committed to serving them (Members) better.
