President Yoweri Museveni has promoted 528 army officers, The Gazette has learnt.

According to a well-placed source, the promoted officers include 03 from the rank of Lieutenant Colonel to Colonel, 27 from Major to Lieutenant Colonel and 498 from Captain to Major.

Lt. Col. Benard Tumwesigye, Lt. Col. Mark Mugarura and Lt. Col. Stephen Nsereko are those promoted to full Colonel.

The Ag. Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) confirmed the promotion.

“The Ministry of Defence and UPDF fraternity congratulate the officers upon the well deserved promotions,” Lt. Col. Ronald Kakurungu said in a statement Sunday.
