Burundian refugee in Uganda arrested for killing wife in ‘exchange’ for wealth

A Burundian refugee in Uganda has been arrested over murder of his wife.
The suspect identified as Piyo Simiyimana and is accused of killing his wife named Rozariyo and the pair lived at Kitwe Kyembogo in Rushasha Sub – County in Isingiro district.
It’s alleged that the suspect was made to believe in witchcraft as a source of wealth and was lured to travel to Kampala and while there, he was advised to have his wife killed so that he becomes rich.
On his return to Isingiro, he allegedly killed the wife and buried her near his house.
It’s also being alleged that after killing the wife, he went away and was not seen until on Wednesday when he returned and was asked by the residents to explain whereabouts his wife.
The suspect revealed that he had killed his wife and buried her near their house.
He went on to guide residents to where he had buried the deceased.
It is then that he was arrested over murder and handed over to Rugaaga Police Station.
The matter, the police say, is being investigated Vide Rushasha SD REF 04/19/01/2022 of Rushasha Police Post.
