PRO-HELI International Services Plant will save Uganda US$ 3.5 million – Museveni

By Marvin Ocol

Yesterday, President Yoweri Museveni commissioned the Helicopter Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul plant at the Nakasongola Air Force Base.

The President commended the Ministry of Defence for the initiative.

According to Museveni, the initiative is an example of “vertical integration of the economy promised in the NRMs 10-Point Programme.”

He revealed that the Helicopter Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul plant will help Uganda save about 3.5 million US dollars that could have been spent on transportation and overhauling one helicopter outside Uganda.

“I congratulate NEC. You are part of the African renaissance,” the President said, looking at Gen. James Mugira and National Enterprise Corporation (NEC) team at the commissioning of PRO-HELI International Services plant in Nakasongola District.

According to NEC, the plant being the only facility South of the Sahara will do the maintenance, repair and Overhaul of the helicopters.
