Soroti East By-Election: EC Appoints New Returning Officer
The Electoral Commission has deployed a new registrar as the Soroti City East by-election roadmap takes shape.
The commission has deployed the Nwoya Returning Officer, Christian Eyu, to preside over the by-elections replacing Charles Egimu the Soroti City Registrar.
On May 24, 2022 Court of Appeal threw Moses Okia Attan out of Parliament on grounds that EC failed to conduct free and fair elections. This followed the annexation and transfer of Opiyai and Aloet wards from Soroti East to Soroti West.
Polling day is scheduled for July 28, 2022.
