TP Mazembe v Vipers SC
Stade TP Mazembe, Lubumbashi, DR Congo
Vipers Sports Club’s preparations for the crucial Second Leg match against TP Mazembe in the Second Round of the CAF Champions League are in the final bend.
The Venoms and Ravens shared the spoils in the first leg last Sunday at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, leaving the tie open for either team.
And, the Ugandan club’s deputy skipper Siraje Sentamu has made a precise, clear and concise analysis of what’s needed of the team on Sunday at the Stade TP Mazembe.
“Of course, TP Mazembe is more experienced,” offered Sentamu in his honest submission.
Going all out
“They have played in this competition for many years and also won it a number of times. But we have no option but to attack them because we need goals. Attack is the weapon we are going to use.”
The experienced midfielder played 90 minutes and was up for any challenge throughout.
The Venoms will be hoping for an even better performance from not just him, but the entire team in Lubumbashi.
The winner over the two games will progress to the group stages, while the other team will progress to the CAF Confederation Cup.
Speaking Friday ahead of the game, Vipers SC Coach, Robertonho, said it won’t be easy for TP Mazembe.
“Everything in football is possible but we came here in Lubumbashi for the win. My players are ready, motivated and determined. No one expected us to even pull a draw against this once giant in African football. We respect our opponents but this is Vipers SC time. Every player on my team knows the mission we came for,” Robertinho said, adding, “Some people have written us off after the first leg goalless draw against TP Mazembe but we are determined to give our best on Saturday. It won’t be a walk in the park for TP Mazembe. We didn’t come this far to lose. We are determined to give our best. Yes, TP Mazembe is a big team but we aren’t scared of them.”
