Pius Kamugisha: Galaxy FM boss’ last moments before gruesome accident emerge
By Sam Mwesigwa
Details have emerged showing the last moments of Galaxy FM’s co-director and Chairman, Pius Kamugisha. Kamugisha was involved in an accident Saturday night, an incident that killed him on the spot and a posh ride he was driving was damaged beyond repair.
Addressing mourners at St Jude Catholic Parish in Wakiso today, his brother, Joseph revealed that Kamugisha had just dropped his eldest daughter to the airport when, on his way back, got involved in the accident. Kamugisha’s daughter traveled that night to the United Kingdom where she is going to pursue a Master’s degree in Law.
Two hours before the accident, Kamugisha also talked to his mother. Their phone conversation ended with a prayer. According to the elderly mother, she went to bed peacefully knowing her son had returned from the airport safely, only to be woken up by a phone call later that her son was involved in an accident and didn’t make it upon being rushed to Mulago hospital.
His other daughter identified as Mercy also revealed that her father saw her off and was in a jolly mood.
The widow, Esther, says that before Kamugisha saw off Mercy, they prayed in the living room and left.
Little did they know that it was their very last moment as a family.
Family, friends and relatives have described Kamugisha as calm, generous, caring and loving.
His body will be laid to rest in Ibanda on Wednesday.
