Arsenal would be ‘willing to pay’ Shakhtar Donetsk’s asking price for star winger Mykhaylo Mudryk, according to journalist Dean Jones.
Several clubs have been credited with an interest in the 21-year-old since the summer, and the Gunners appear to be near the front of the queue for his signature.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Arsenal’s pursuit of Mudryk, revealed that they had ‘positive’ contact over the summer and that they are ‘still following’ him now.
“We know they [Arsenal] wanted a winger. Raphinha was the dream, but it was not possible to proceed,” Romano said on his YouTube channel.
“They have had very positive contacts on Mudryk on the player’s side, but then they decided not to proceed with Shakhtar because they wanted more than €40m to €45m.
“Now Shakhtar want more than €60m to €65m,” Romano continued. “But Arsenal are still following the player.”
CBS reporter Ben Jacobs has also claimed that Sevilla, Newcastle United, Ajax and Bayer Leverkusen are in the running for Mudryk, meaning the north London outfit could face stiff competition.
