Exclusive: Police procure more anti-riot trucks in anticipation of demos Vs. CMA

Uganda Police Force (UPF) has procured more tactical anti-riot trucks with water cannon, Kampala Gazette has exclusively learnt.
Well-placed sources say the trucks mainly used in dispersing unlawful riots and gatherings arrived in the country a week ago.
This reporter could not independently verify the trucks’ country of origin (make) and the amount of money used in procuring them.
A number of these trucks, however, come from China and are valued at a tune of US$ 161, 300 each, according to an advert on Alibaba (.Com).
The trucks arrive weeks after the President signed into the Computer Misuse Act. While the matter is before the Constitutional Court, well-placed sources in the security circle anticipates opposition against the Law.
Against the above background, insiders say the Police had to ship in more anti-control tools, which included trucks.
