Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) and the Japanese mission to Uganda have agreed to improve bilateral relations between Uganda and Japan.

This agreement came during a meeting between Commissioner General John Musinguzi and the Ambassador of Japan to Uganda Hidemoto Fukuzawa.

Hidemoto commended the longstanding relations Uganda has had with Japan adding that Japan is ready to increase investment into Uganda. He however expressed concern on the taxes being imposed on projects funded by the Japanese government.

In response, the Commissioner pledged to continue supporting the cooperation between the two countries especially in business, and explained that URA only implements tax policies and incentives as passed by Parliament of Uganda. He appreciated the role being played by the Japanese government in the development of Uganda.

The meeting was also attended by Commissioner Domestic Taxes Sarah Chelangat, Commissioner Customs Abel Kagumire and the First Secretary of the Japanese Embassy Tomoko Ohyama.
