The burial of deceased Supreme Court Judge, Stella Arach-Amoko, has been postponed.

The Chief Registrar, Saa Langa Siu, said in a statement Thursday that the remains of Arach-Amoko who died on June 17, 2023 would be buried at a later date.

This follows a misunderstanding between the children and relatives of the deceased on the burial ground.

The children say their mother declared her parents’ home in Jukia Hill, Nebbi as her burial ground, contrary to her husband’s home in Adjumani. Arach was married to Ambassador James Amoko.

However, we have exclusively learnt that the deceased and the widower met at the time they all had grown up children and never had any other children after their civil marriage.

As such, Arach’s children do not know Ambassador Amoko beyond being their stepfather and so, don’t see burying their late mother in Adjumani as an option.

“They don’t know Adjumani. Ambassador Amoko is just their stepfather. So, they can’t freely go to Adjumani to do certain rituals in case their mother is buried there,” a family source says. “They want the place their late mother showed them, and the only upcountry home they know.”

It is now not clear when Arach’s body will be laid to rest.
