The Executive Director, The Civil Society Budget Advocacy Group (CSBAG),
Julius Mukunda, has said he is yet to see the best performing institution like the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA).
Speaking at a post-budget dialogue organized by ACODE at Serena Hotel on Monday, Mukunda said URA has been performing at 98% every year in revenue collection.
According to Mukunda, URA’s collection grows every year.
“If your child comes home with 98%, I can assure you, you will slaughter a chicken for them,” Mukunda said, crediting URA for consistency. “I have never seen the best performing institution like URA. They have been collecting in growth every year.”
However, Mukunda says the URA needs “our support”
In the Financial Year ending June 30, 2023; URA is expected to hit their Shs 25. 5 trillion target while in the FY 2023/2024, the taxman will be expected to collect Shs 29.7 trillion, nearly half of the Shs 52. 7 trillion budget for the next FY.
