KIRA: Works on roads in bad shape start

By Isaiah Makumbi

For some time now, the roads in Kira Municipality have been in bad shape.

However, there is hope.

A letter dated July 15, 2024, indicates that contracts for executing the roads will be signed on July 16, 2024.

The projects are under Batch 1A.

The roads include Kiwatule-Najjera, Mbogo Road, Bishop Cyprian Road, and Kungu-Bivanju Road.

This comes after the government of Uganda, through the Ministry of Greater Kampala and Metropolitan Affairs (MKCC&MA), received funding from the World Bank and the International Development Association for the improvement of road mobility, connectivity, accessibility, resilience, the environment, workplaces, job creation, and institutional strengthening. Kira Municipal Council, being one of the implementing entities, has completed the procurement process leading to the award and contract signing for the above project.

“The purpose of this letter is therefore to invite you to the contract signing event that is scheduled for July 16, 2024, at exactly 9:00 a.m. in Kira Municipal Council Hall. Kindly attend to witness this very important activity of causing remarkable change UNITED FOR DEVELOPMENT in our municipality,” Paddy Kakuma, on behalf of the Town Clerk, wrote to the Local Council Chairpersons on Monday.
