Kiteezi: 5 arrested for impersonating victims as death toll rises to 26

The police last night arrested five people who were impersonating victims of the tragic incident in Kiteezi and were also looking for compensation and relief items.
They are detained at Kiteezi Police Station on charges of impersonation, says Kampala Metroolitan Police Spokesman Patrick Onyango.
Meanwhile, the operation to retrieve dead bodies in the landfill in Kiteezi is progressing well, without any major issues. By 4 p.m. on Wednesday, two more bodies had been recovered.
The death toll now stands at 26.
Affacted People
The Registration Committee that was set up to register all the affected people, houses destroyed, and suspected homes that were covered by garbage presented their preliminary findings on Wednesday.
Their findings are:
1. 120 people were registered in the camp (temporary shelter) at Kiteezi Church of Uganda Primary School, play ground.
2. 39 people were registered as missing. This includes 35 community members (local residents) and four garbage collectors.
3. 33 homes are suspected to have been covered by debris.
