The Inspector General of Police – Martins Okoth Ochola – has once again recognized the role and effort put in by Police Spokesperson – SCP Fred Enanga.
The IGP was officiating at the release of the Annual Crime Report 2022 as Chief Guest, when he gave Enanga a pat on the back.
Enanga, on top of his other duties, was the Director of Ceremonies during the release of the said report, at the Police headquarters in Naguru on Wednesday. In 2022, Enanga was awarded a Golden Jubilee Medal for his outstanding contribution and services to the government.
Delving into his remarks, the IGP revealed that crime rate increased by 18% (from 196, 081 cases reported to the Police Stations across the country in 2021 to 231, 653 cases in 2022).
The IGP said strategies are in place to have the number come down in 2023 but also to have a safe and secure country during this period.
He urged Ugandans to continue the fight against crime.
“As we release this report, we want to assure the public that in 2023, the focus will be to to remodel our process to support the sub county policing model, welfare enhancement and digitization for our processes for enhanced law and order,” IGP Ochola said.
