After 1 year in marriage, Nursing officer dies while giving birth
Mpigi district administration and the health fraternity are mourning a young nursing officer, who died while giving birth at Kawempe National Referral Hospital in Kampala.
Christine Nakisinde, 28, a senior nursing officer had worked at Mpigi Health Centre IV for six years. She died Monday night at Kawempe, where she had been admitted in the maternity ward.
The Mpigi district acting information officer, Francis Mukasa, described Nakisinde as a jolly and easy-to-deal-with nurse, who was liked by everybody, including her workmates and patients.
Mukasa said her death has shocked many, including her patients who came to the facility and asked for her.
“Everyone was in tears. Many of her colleagues were greatly shocked and the entire administration is yet to believe she has passed on,” said Mukasa told the New Vision.
Mukasa said Nakisinde got married in May last year and many of the district civil servants attended the wedding in Kampala. This was her first pregnancy ― and sadly her last.
She will be laid to rest today in Ssonde, Wakiso district.
