Unknown assailants Wednesday attacked Uganda House in New York.

While the motive remains unclear, the Parliament of Uganda on Tuesday passed Anti-Homosexuality Bill, 2023, with calls to President Museveni not to sign the Bill into law. 

The Bill prescribes tough penalties, including death for aggravated homosexuality, as well as imprisonment of up to 20 years for acts of homosexuality, promoting homosexuality, child grooming and promotion of homosexuality. 

According to Adonia Ayebare, Uganda’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, the violent attackers damaged a glass of a rear entrance door and injured a South Sudanese Diplomat (tenant).

“The police are on the scene. Fortunately, our CCCT cameras captured the incident. Too early to establish the motive, but the individual was reportedly angry about the Bill passed by the UG Parliament on LGBT,” Ayebare said.
