Kampala — Uganda Airlines has confirmed that one of its flights from Johannesburg to Entebbe was forced to return shortly after takeoff following a bird strike incident.
In a statement issued on the morning of April 3, 2026, the national carrier said the aircraft experienced a disruption approximately 45 minutes into the flight after a bird struck the plane, shattering the windscreen.
The flight crew made the precautionary decision to turn back to OR Tambo International Airport (JNB), where the aircraft landed safely.
Uganda Airlines assured the public that all passengers and crew members were unharmed.
“The safety and security of our passengers and staff remain our highest priority,” the airline said in the statement.
The airline did not immediately provide details on the number of passengers on board or arrangements for affected travelers.
