Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) reports that five bodies from an accident that occurred on August 2, 2023 on Lake Victoria have been recovered.

They have been identified as Winnie Nankya, 29; Zam Angel Rugose Mutesi, 35; Galdyce Nabisele, 40; Proscovia Namulondo, 44, and Edith Najuna, 30.

Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) says that the rescue teams are continuing their search for victims of the boat accident on Lake Victoria that occurred on August 2, 2023.

“The recovered bodies have been transported to City Mortuary Mulago for postmortem examinations,” KMP Spokesperson, Patrick Onyango says.

He, however, says that rescue efforts are facing challenges due to the rough conditions of the lake and heavy rainfall.

“The combined efforts of the Police Marines, UPDF Marines, and local residents persist in their mission to locate and recover all missing persons,” he said.

He appealed to the public, “especially those with missing relatives, to remain patient and composed as the rescue team continues to work tirelessly around the clock in their search and recovery operations.”
