Lawyers Kyle Lubega and Richard Buzibira of Lubega & Buzibira Co. Advocates said to have represented one Natalia Namuli, a 79-year-old woman in Kagadi district, to claim for land compensation from the Uganda Land Commission (ULC), have been arrested.
Also arrested was Namuli’s son in law identified as Peter Amara.
They were handed over to Parliament CID for investigations over their role in the Shs 2bn compensation scandal.
Buzibira earlier told COSASE that businessman Warren Mwesigye bought interest from Namuli at Shs 318 million for 516 hectares. According to Buzibira, Mwesigye was paid 2bn shillings. However, genuine claimants of the land have emerged.
Amara, the son in law of Namuli, the woman at the centre of the Shs 2 billion land compensation scandal says that they did not receive a single penny for the land.
“If the lawyers say they paid us 318m shs, let them show us the evidence”
