A teacher in Bukomansimbi district is in custody over defilement.

The suspect has been identified as Francis Ssempijja. Ssempijja is accused of defiling two of his pupils, aged 13. The victims are pupils of Rugando Infant Nursery and Primary School. 

It’s alleged that between January and September 2024, Ssempijja, who also doubles as the victims’ uncle, repeatedly defiled his victims since they (the victims) lived with their abuser. 

It is reported that they informed their father, who pledged to handle the matter at family level. It was at this point that the matter leaked, prompting the arrest of Ssempijja, and a case of aggravated defilement opened via BKM/SD Ref 37/07/10/2024 and BKM CRB /478/2024.

By press time, the victims were at a shelter for better management while Ssempijja was still in custody on charges of aggravated defilement.
