Bukwo CAO’s murder: Security close in on runaway LC5 Chairman, Chelimo
By Simon Komakech
A joint security is closing in on Bukwo LCV Chairman – Julius Moses Chelimo, high-end security sources have confirmed.
Insiders say Chelimo fled Bukwo between Sunday and Monday this week. This was just hours after the Ag. Chief Administrative Officer – Bukwo, Charles Ogwang, was murdered between Matugga and Bombo on the night of July 8, 2022 and his official car set on fire. A prime suspect was arrested near the murder scene. Also arrested was Ogwang’s driver, Eric Chemusto, 23. Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga told the media in Kampala Monday that four people had so far been arrested. Sources say since the arrests, Chelimo went into hiding. Reliable sources say Chelimo crossed to Kenya and switched his communication to a Kenyan phone number. However, he also abandoned the line when he left Kenya days later. He has been located in Kampala (as of this afternoon), an online publication reported Thursday afternoon. Sources note that Chelimo was implicated by one of the suspects currently in custody.
According to Enanga, Ogwang’s brutal murder was not an act of robbery. Enanga said Ogwang was targeted and executed. Secondly, the incident was captured on a smartphone for proof.
In our recent story, we revealed how Chelimo had written to the Ministry of Local Government, demanding that Ogwang be replaced, lest they (officials of Bukwo district) lay down tools.
It did not take a month, Ogwang was murdered.
