Cabinet Reshuffle: Is Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba the next Army Chief?

By Executive Editor

On Thursday evening, President Yoweri Museveni made changes to his cabinet.

Goretti Kitutu and Vicent Ssempijja have been dropped from Karamoja and Defense, respectively, and replaced by Peter Lokeris and Jacob Oboth, respectively.

Meanwhile, the Chief of Defense Forces (CDF), Gen. Wilson Mbadi, has been appointed Trade Minister of State.

This means that the CDF position remains vacant.

The Deputy CDF is Lt. Gen. Peter Elwelu.

However, this position will have to be taken up by a four-star general. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba remains undeployed.

Meanwhile, Gen. Muhoozi’s supporters have all been rewarded. For instance, events promoter Balam Barugahare has been appointed as the State Minister for Youth and Children Affairs, while Lilian Aber has been appointed as the Minister of State for Disaster Preparedness, Relief, and Refugees (OPM). Phiona Nyamutoro has been appointed as Minister of State for Minerals.
