By Executive Editor

In 2015, Florence Kitui Makyeme, alias Flo Qitui, won ‘The Next Big Radio Presenter’ contest on Capital FM. She beat four other finalists in the tightly contested promotion through a voting system.

At the time, she was pursuing a Bachelor of Information Technology at Makerere University. She also doubled as a marketing and communications executive at a marketing firm in Kampala. She also worked with Prodigy Management Agency as a communications consultant.

Following her win at Capital FM, she bagged Shs 5 million in cash prizes and was taken on by Capital Radio, where she worked as a presenter.

She would later cross over to Next Media as a presenter on both radio and TV.

In an interview with the Observer in 2015, Qitui said she wanted to be lots of things, “but for a long time I dreamt of becoming an aeronautic engineer.”

Today, Qitui is the Head of Corporate Affairs at media conglomerate Next Media Services.

“Yesterday was my first time officially speaking on behalf of the entire brand—a big brand—was I ready? Yes. Was I nervous? Yes, still, but my passion for @nextmediaug  supercedes any fear or nerves that come with the duty at hand… ela Kati tusimbudde!” Qitui said on X yesterday.
