City businessman cheats death after his Range Rover Sport catches fire
A businessman in Kampala is counting loses after his ride, a Range Rover Sport caught fire Thursday morning.
This, as territorial traffic police at Kayabwe probe the incident that happened at Jandira, Kayabwe Town Council in Mpigi district along Kampala-Masaka highway.
The incident happened at around 8:40am when the motor vehicle registration number UAS 066Q (Range Rover Sport/Blue in color caught fire.
The vehicle driven by Emorut Joshua Egweu, a resident of Mutungo, Nakawa division in Kampala, was headed towards Masaka.
It is alleged that the car developed a mechanical fault and smoke began fuming from the engine. This prompted the driver to park off the road upon being alerted by other motorists.
Traffic and Road Safety Directorate confirmed the incident.
Efforts by the locals to put off the fire went futile and the car burnt to ashes, the Directorate Spokesperson Faridah Nampiima says.
