Coffee Bill: 12 MPs Suspended for Fighting in the House

The Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among, has suspended 11 Members of Parliament after a fight broke out in the House on Wednesday morning. 

The MPs are Anthony Akol (Kilak North), Wakayima Musoke (Nansana), Aloysius Mukasa (Rubaga North), Charles Tebandeke ( Bbaale), Francis Zaake (Mityana), Isaiah Sassaga (Budadiri East), Asinansi Nyakato (Hoima), Derrick Nyeko (Makindye East), Frank Kabuye (Kassanda South), Evans Kanyike (Bukoto East, Shamim Malende (Kampala WOman) and Susan Mugabi (Buvuma woman). They were suspended for the next 3 sittings.

They were suspended with immediate effect. 

The House was scheduled to debate the contested Coffee Amendment Bill, which seeks to, among others, take UCDA back to the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry, and Fisheries as a department. 

The House was also suspended for 15 minutes.
