Richard Tumwine is over Shs 10 million richer after winning a case in which he earlier dragged Fortunate Kyarikunda to court for ‘fraud’

Prosecution notes that in 2015, Tumwine was a teacher at Kiringa Primary School where Kyarikunda came for teaching practice. The pair went into a romantic relationship. In 2018, Kyarikunda agreed to marry Tumwine.  Tumwine went on to support her financially and sponsored her for a diploma in Law at the Law Development Centre – LDC. In total, he spent Shs 9,439, 100. In January 2022, the two arranged for an introduction ceremony that was to happen in February 2022. However, Kyarikunda later turned against Tumwine, accusing him of being “an old man” whom she cannot get married to.

It is against the above background that Tumwine rushed to court.

In a ruling delivered recently before Kanungu Magistrates Court, Grade One magistrate Asanasio Mukobi avers that the victim is entitled to a reimbursement of Shs 9,439,100. Mukobi also awarded Tumwine Shs 1 million for general damages for inconveniences and psychological anguish.
