Court orders Gulu woman to refund Danish hubby half of money invested in property as marriage ends

By Simon Komakech

Court has dissolved the marriage between Robin Meaton and Proscovia Acayo.

Meaton, a Danish national, had petitioned the court to dissolve their marriage, have Acayo pay for custody of their three children, and have him refunded half of the money he spent towards purchasing land at Ariaga in Gulu district.

The couple got married on November 27, 2014. However, Meaton says that he has since been subjected to cruelty, cheated on, and that they currently live separately. He pleaded that the acts of Acayo had caused him pain and anguish.

Acayo did not file any reply to the petition despite being duly served with summonses to answer the petition.

To this end, Justice Phillip Odoki of the Gulu High Court has granted Meaton all his prayers, including a refund of half of the money he put in the property.
