Cuba-Uganda Relations: Kole’s Judith Alyek Honored

The Cuban Embassy in Uganda on Saturday honored the Kole-Woman Member of Parliament, Judith Alyek, for her “Outstanding work within the solidarity movement with Cuba in the period 2021-2023.”
Alyek was recognized at the close of the National Meeting on Solidarity with Cuba at the Uganda Christian University (UCU) in Mukono.
Cuba’s Vice President, Salvador Valdes Mesa, was the Chief Guest.
Alyek is the Chairperson of Lango Parliamentary Group, an umbrella that brings together all lawmakers from the Region.
In May 2024, diplomatic relations between Uganda and Cuba will mark 50 years.
The Chief Guest, Mesa, planted a tree in marking the first of the activities leading up to the 50-year celebrations.
