The government has extended the deadline for the installation of digital vehicle number plates to October or November 2023.

This was after failing to meet the projected July 1, 2023 deadline.

Reports indicate that the first vehicle registration will cost Shs 714,300, while the exchange of old plates will cost Shs 150,000 for vehicles and Shs 50,000 for motorcycles.

Initially, the initiative was to kick off in March 2023. However, it was postponed to July. It is not clear if the government will meet the extended deadline.
