The Divisional Police command of Gulu West in Gulu City are holding Franchesca Amony, 34, Vide SD REF. 17/29/10/2022 on charges of murder by stabbing.

Amony is a former councilor in Gulu and is accused of stabbing her husband, Dr. Joseph Etuk Joseph, a medical practitioner in one of the Hospitals in Mbarara City, Western Uganda.

Preliminary information gathered indicates that, on 28/10/2022 at around 10:30pm in Keyi “A” Cell, Kabedopong Ward, Bardege-Layibi Division, Gulu City, Amony who is a lawyer by profession stabbed Etuk using a knife following a domestic misunderstanding.

The victim was rushed to Gulu Regional Referral Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Regional Police Spokesperson David Ongom-Mudong confirmed the incident.

He says that a team of Homicide detectives from Gulu West Division visited the scene and that an exhibit of a knife was recovered, suspect arrested and detained and the body taken to Gulu Regional Referral Hospital Mortuary pending postmortem as investigations continue.
