If you ever want or think about launching a product around high-net-worth individuals, you may want to think about businessman Sudhir Ruparelia and his Kwagalana friends.
Last year a financial institution in the banking sector launched a high-net-worth product. One of their guests was Sudhir.
On Wednesday, DCFU Bank treated a few guests to sumptuous dinner and lavish drinks at the Kampala Serena Hotel, introducing a high-net-worth product. Deputy Governor of the Bank of Uganda, Prof. Augustus Nuwagaba, graced the event lowkey.
The product comes with a drawing of up to Shs 10 million from the ATM, spending up to Shs 30 million online, funeral and travel benefits, among others.
“You are special to us. You have walked this journey with us. You deserve these products,” said DFCU Bank Board Chairperson, Prof. Winnie Kiryabwire.
According to the Managing Director of dfcu Bank, Charles Mudiwa, exclusive banking is for a few people.
“It’s for a few. It’s exclusive. You are few here. It can’t be exclusive and you have a crowd,” said Mudiwa.
According to Annet Kiconco, the chief retail officer at DFCU Bank, the innovation defines banking for Uganda’s most distinguished individuals.
“This will elevate your banking experience. You spoke, we listened. You said traditional banking is not it. This is going to be seamless, with privileges that suit your status. It is the beginning of a new two-way banking. This is not a product launch; it is a lifestyle and beyond a banking experience,” said Kiconco.
But that said, Sudhir and a few of his friends define exclusive banking in this country. He is arguably Uganda’s wealthiest man.
However, it is not shocking that the property mogul was not invited. The two parties are still in court over the Crane Bank saga.
