Following the death of Cecilia Ogwal last week, there will be a by-election in Dokolo district in search for the woman member of Parliament. The deceased was a Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) pillar, not only in Dokolo, but in the entire region.
Her death now creates room for a fresh search within the FDC and other actors. In fact, in the entire region, the FDC now has one MP in the 11th Parliament. However, outside Mrs. Ogwal (R.I.P), the FDC can only look around and look again. In the last election, the Uganda Peoples Congress (UPC) and the National Resistance Movement (NRM) had candidates.
These mean, that unlike FDC, the UPC and the NRM will not hold party primaries.
Nyankori (UPC) and Elyau (NRM) will have to avail themselves for the ballot.
