Dr. Wamasebu: Body suspected to be that of kidnapped ex-District Health Officer found in Kenya

A joint security teams from Uganda and Kenya have retrieved the body of someone suspected to be that of Dr. Gideon Wamasebu, the former Manafwa District Health Officer-DHO.
Dr. Wamasebu went missing on February 6, 2023 after he told some people that he was headed for a business trip. However, on February 7, 2023; his family received a distressed call pointing to kidnap, and that he was being held in Kenya. His captors demanded for a ransom.
“The family immediately informed the Police which began investigations,” a family member and Vision Group Chief Executive Officer – CEO – Don Wanyama says in a statement Tuesday.
Yesterday, the two security teams visited Malava, Kakamega in Kenya where they suspected Dr. Wamasebu could have been killed.
“A body was retrieved and both Kenyan and Ugandan medical personnel are conducting extensive tests to ascertain the identitiy of the body. We have been advised to await the results before drawing firm conclusions,” Wanyama adds. In the meantime, Wanyama says “Kenyan and Uganda security continue with investigations.”
