Exclusive! Businessman intercepted with suspected stolen govt hoes, truck impounded

A businessman has been intercepted with suspected stolen government hoes.

The suspect has been identified as Godfrey Isuba, 31, a resident of Namutumba.

Well-placed sources say earlier today, territorial Police in Moroto intercepted 170 hoes loaded on a truck registration number UBH 407U belonging NOVO, a beer wholesale company based in Tororo. At the time, the truck was being driven by Musa Wakabi, , a resident of Bugembe cell in Jinja City. 

According to sources, he hoes belong to Isuba, who, at the time the truck was intercepted was in the co-driver’s seat.

The suspected stolen hoes

Recently, the government supplied 55,600 hand hoes to the people of Moroto under Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) program and were all supplied to the beneficiaries.

However, this particular one was suspected to have been stolen.

A case of illegal possession of Government stores to wit 170 hand hoes has been opened vide Moroto SD Ref: 39/22/12/2021 and investigation into the matter is ongoing.

Regional Police Spokesperson AIP Mike Ilongole confirmed the incident.

He said: “As police, we would like to inform the general community that, police has responsibility of monitoring and protection of all Government supplies to the Community. No one should take advantage of vulnerable people to his/her advantage.”
