Exclusive: Congregant slaps Minister Ecweru during church service

A congregant at St. Michael Catholic Church yesterday slapped Minister of State for Works Musa Ecweru, during a church service, Kampala Gazette can authoritatively report.
The matter involving Ecweru and Michael Okurut is currently before Amuria Police Station Vide CRB 42/2022.
According to our sources, the police station within the territorial jurisdiction of Amuria district police command is investigating a case of assault against Ecweru.
Sources further say that at around 11:30am within Wera parish, Wera sub-county in Amuria district during Sunday service at St. Michael Catholic church, an individual identified as Okurut Micheal a male adult aged 39 years came before the altar like other congregants, knelt down and got his blessings.
Afterwards he got up and surprisingly slapped the minister as he was giving his summon.
“He was thereafter immediately subdued by the Minister’s bodyguards. No harm game was occasioned on the Minister’s person,” a source who attended the service said.
A case has been opened at Wera Police Station where statements have been recorded and the suspect is detained as Inquiries and investigation into the matter is expedited.
