Finance Permanent Secretary, Ramathan Ggoobi, has once again said that the Country will not “do things we have no control over”
Ggoobi was this morning delivering a keynote address at the the 3rd Annual National Content Conference at Serena Hotel when he said that: “Listen to economics, not common sense.”
“We are following International prices and very soon things will stabilize. That Control model doesn’t work. Subsidizing prices doesn’t work. Cutting taxes doesn’t work,” Ggoobi said.
According to Ggoobi, “Those who controlled in the region are now calling me to benchmark.”
“They are reversing their policies,” he said.
Fuel prices in Uganda are currently in the region of Shs 6, 000. In the past couple of weeks, a number of voices have come up appealing to the government to take to control the prices. However, Ggoobi says that it does not work that way.
