Gambling: Man killed after he fails to pay following defeat while playing cards

A man in the Sebei district of Kapchorwa has died after a disagreement while playing Cards.
On the 8th February 2023 at 3 pm, the deceased only identified as Leonard, 25; a resident of Kwoano Cell, Target Ward, East Division in Kapchorwa Municipality was playing Cards with one Cedrack, 24; a resident of Kiringet cell, Kwoti ward, East Division when he lost, but declined to pay, prompting a fight.
“The suspect picked a piece of wood and hit the deceased on the head. The deceased fell down and became unconscious. He was rushed to Kapchorwa hospital for treatment and later he was referred to Mbale regional hospital where he was yesterday pronounced dead,” a source says.
Our source notes that the relatives of the deceased upon hearing the death of their person acted lawlessly by destroying the properties and burning houses of the suspect’s relatives. By press time, Cedrack was still in the custody of Police pending a charge to court.
