RIP: Augustine
A Kampala city lawyer, who is also an MP aspirant in Mukono, is facing double heartbreak after the death of his young son—and the subsequent withholding of the child’s body over an outstanding hospital bill.

Fundraising efforts are ongoing among family, friends, and the Greenhill School community to raise funds for the release of the body of Augustine, a Primary Six pupil at Greenhill Academy who died on November 12, 2025.
Augustine passed away three weeks after sustaining severe injuries in a fall at his school on October 22.
The family had tentatively planned to bury him this Saturday in Mukono. However, these plans have been disrupted after TMR International Hospital in Naalya, Kampala, declined to release the body due to an unpaid medical bill amounting to approximately Shs 150 million.
According to family representatives, hospital administrators have communicated that at least half of the bill must be cleared before the body can be released. The child’s remains are currently preserved at a funeral home under TMR’s custody.
The situation has sparked emotional distress within the family and triggered widespread fundraising efforts, particularly among the Greenhill community, where Augustine was well known and loved.
TMR International Hospital has previously been associated with similar cases during the COVID-19 pandemic, when families of the late Aggrey Awori and Kaaya of Kaaya Investments also reported difficulties accessing their relatives’ remains due to unsettled bills.
Attempts to obtain comment from the hospital on the current matter were unsuccessful, as calls to management went unanswered.
