An employee of a Non-Governmental Organization in Gulu is being guarded on his hospital bed after attempting poison.

Sources say Willy Okeny is being held for murder by stabbing Vide CRB: 918/2022 of Gulu City.

Facts show that Grace Laker, a housewife aged 30 years and a resident of Peace Lukung Cell, Peace Laroo Division in Gulu City was stabbed to death at 10pm last evening after she returned home on a boda-boda where she found her husband at home.

“They picked a quarrel with the husband one Mr. Okeny Willy, a suspect in this case, an employee of Summer Source, an NGO based within Gulu City because the deceased slept outside without his knowledge,” a source says. “As the scuffle ensued, the husband allegedly pulled the deceased inside the house and stabbed her with the knife and died instantly. After that, it’s further alleged that the man took poison and was rushed to Gulu Regional Referral Hospital for medical attention in critical condition. He is being guarded by Police to later help in investigations after possible recovery.”

By press time, Laker’s body was at the mortuary pending postmortem.

Regional Police Spokesperson David Ongom-Mudong confirms the incident and urges “members of the public to embrace peaceful means of dialogue to mitigate domestic related misunderstandings rather than resorting to violence that escalates into criminal tendencies.”
